the insatiable hunger for life is the best thing a menu could offer.

here’s a thought (and i am having an einstein moment so pardon me for the drama): we have walked here for quite sometimes now, and until now it is still not clear why we are here facing attrocities of life. i mean, if we are here to figure things out – ’say, how to live beautifully – then why is it that for every man’s discovery it seems the answer for our very question is still far. very far. why is it that the more you find out about life the more it becomes blurry.

maybe, just maybe, we are not here to find  out the real answer about what life is (or why, or how)but rather we are here find out what do we mean to life itself. our selfish way of seeing things limit us on how we should really approach life. thats just a thought, not a point. ok? ok.

at last, it is over. all of the efforts paid off. several days of restlessness and  near-insanity experience  has been justified. it went smoothly.

ok, i am talking about my oral defense, hehe. it was a very surprising turnout to be honest. i was confident about the software but never with the docs. last pre-oral they slaughtered my docs and gave little attention about the software. so i was thinking all the while that they don’t really care if i make a good program or not. all that matters is a good documentation. but not last saturday. there were 2 students who backed out because they’re programs weren’t running. so i was the first one to do the defense. i got stiffed when i showed them my work. i was expecting a “dyaran!!” reactions from them. but those people were doctors, and they have to behave like one (you know, wearing geeky eye glasses, heads up and with a very intimadating voice). but as i guide them through my work, they started to ease down. the discussion was really good and it lasted for three and a half hours!

i never thought that writing a thesis documentation is really cool. you got the chance to do those “thank you’s” and “dedication” stuff on the first page of the book, really cool. i made my thank you and dedication very short, short and precise. very precise

i just saw the video of “Boys don’t cry”   by plumb and it’s great,  ’saw this before though.

Boys don’t cry? not true. we do. but you don’t wanna see that, hehe, neither do we.

its 12:15 AM in the morning, i decided to have a break from my thesis – which is insanely ironic because i am, again, in front of a friggin computer – to look for something to eat. or drink. i was looking for something cold, something mind freezing. so i settled for freezy vegas. its good actually.

it feels good that i finally got out of my room. and speaking of that….

looking at my room right now it is even messier  than ever. but my life is not a mess a right now (what? its not, ok.), how could that be? according to my self-proclaimed theory, our room reflects the current state of our life (for those of you who still not getting it please refer to my blog entitled “the room analogy“, just scroll down). could i have missed something? well, here’s my theory in support on that theory: we let our room get messy in exchange of something good that we are doing. yeah. we do. we always do. our room compromise for whaetver “other” things that we are doing. cleaning our room can always wait, right? i’m not saying that its bad, and i am not declaring that its good either, im just saying. whatever point that it made to you i hope its for the better. ok? ok.

If you’ve been in Gordon Heights you’ll have a fine grip of what will i tell you. i repeatedly tell everybody that i fell in love with the place. Gordon Heights is me. the place is just perfect. it doesn’t have the perfect people or view but that what makes it uniquely common. Gordon Heights is still covered with trees.. which is good for people like me who loves to walk. the scene of Long Road around 2 PM on a sunny, sleepy afternoon is very composed. it has so many words written on every scene. The entire barangay is covered by mountains both on its side, at the far north is a forest (don’t know where that leads) and in front is the city and beach. Ang galing di ba? One noticeable structure common to houses here is the “wall stone” other calls it “riprap” (or rikrap – whatever, correct me with this one). These are stones piled up to serve as a wall or foundation of a house. since the place is at the foot of the mountain then this structure really makes sense. a good example of this structure can be found at block 9, just along the Long Road. they often say that it is like “Great wall of China”, hehe. The Long Road is a road (obviously) that includes 24 blocks of the upper Gordon Heights. WaterDam Road on the other hand, is parallel to Long Road and stretches from block 1 -27 of lower Gordon Heights. houses usually sits on mountain side giving them a nice perspective of the entire barangay and also cold breeze during morning.

people are very diversed. mostly from class B, C and D. and their lifestyles, despite being near to the port, are relatively simple. most os us works inside SBMA or in Manila. there’s still taho and napoy during morning though i rarely see ‘dirty’ ice cream anymore. on a 4-o’clock afternoon streets are usually filled with playing childrens.

as you watch everyone wear their face everyday, they have their own very interesting story. on how they smile, how they stare and just look-away. painted on every scene here.

when the world is breaking you apart – well not actually breaking i’ve exagerrated it since i sleep 7 AM already — you tend to appreciate all the little things, like this: did you know how delicious ‘pan de sal’ and egg together is? man, i had 10 this morning! it was like a bistek tagalog served on a hot plate by Natalie Portman (ok, now that’s really dreamy - a usual effect of a 10-hour C# wrestle). another one, when was the last time you enjoyed riding a jeep ?(if i’m really freaking you out please click the ‘X’ button on the upper right side of your browser and run screaming!) yeah, i never thought riding a jeep could be so relaxing. as i sit it seems to me that the everything i see is in slow motion. and everybody was dancing and everyone talking to me was singing. and the policeman was waving like a ballet dancer(wahahaha, now those were not true.). last one, an ice cold C2, the best! really a thirst quencher.

sigh. ok now i’m back. where am i?

this is me in a nutshell:

my oral defense will be in next, next sunday (Feb. 26) and things are really starting to demand more of my strength, time and effort.

i have a “pile” of websites to finish, that’s, umm (counting… ), three?

i barely sleeps…

my last good meal was … um, ugh, ‘can’t remember. “hey you TJ, i want a boiling nilagang baka, some of those bistek tagalog, an ice-cold coke, mainit na kanin — hindi malata! –, do NOT forget the fish sauce with some sliced lemon “. drooling.

I’m good. I’m good. everyone, cheers! (kablag…)

I’ve read this article before but i never really paid enough attention. I’ve heard there’s a mid-life crisis but this one? a quarter life crisis? nah. i never believed it. not until this morning. well, i’m still not a big fan of it but the idea is starting sink in. the author has a point, and some of the situation he mentioned happened to me already. haha.  it’s valentines day for friggin’ sake but i am  here trying to have lesson of “life in a nutshell”.

nothing beats a mind stimulating talk “on a walk” (he-he) on the good ol’ place here in subic.  that’s what i love her in subic, i mean the place  always implies a good  topic for conversation.

che and I were walkin’  having the settings i described  above and suddenly we bumped  into this topic.  “Your room reflects your life”, I told her. No big deal, of course your room  reflects  how  you deal with life  what’s so special about it. “I mean your room reflects the current phase of your life and it doesn’t mean that if your room is not clean, then your life is a mess”  as I further continue with the detail. “OK, go on” she answered and now with some curiousity in her face. “Kaya nga minsan, kapag magulo ang kuwarto natin ayaw nating ayusin yun ng ibang tao sa bahay e, dahil alam natin na kahit magulo yan, alam natin kung nasaan bawat gamit natin. Sure, wala yun sa tamang lugar but it doesn’t matter… basta alam natin na naandun yun. Alam natin na anjan lang yan, so kapag umalis tayo, isasarado lang natin ang kuwarto natin, ang ating magulong kuwarto… pero nandun pa rin ang gamit natin. At alam natin that at one point of our life, aayusin natin ang kuwarto natin.  We may not know when that point will be but we are sure that time will come. Aayusin natin ang kuwarto natin, hindi man ngayon basta aayusin natin. Basta.”

that’s the room analogy. at least that’s my room analogy. we all have our down moments. we will get through it somehow, when will be the question. but it doesn’t matter. all that matter is that we will. somehow.

and right now i am buying something new for my room.. say..  5.1 Altec Lansing speaker?

Lately, michelle, janice and I have been into tagalog movies. A few years back, i was one of the advocate against filipino films, hehe.  I admit  filipino films before, when  “talong” and “itlog” were movie titles and not some edible food on your table, sucked! I even planned on creating hate site about it, haha.

Filipino films before were crappy. All but recycled stunts, familiar lines and lame stories. We even laughed at lines like “Mga, gunggong iisang tao lang nalusutan pa kayo! Habulin nio si Guevarra!” how many times did you hear that line on a Filipino film? How many action films where the lead man’s family, girlfriend (or dog)  will be killed then he will ask his bud for guns to avenge the death of his family.  How many times have you seen the “old-car-will-hit-drums-and-then-explode” stunt? I mean wtf, why would anyone put a freaking drum on a freeway! How many comedy films have you seen where at the end of the story they will celebrate at the beach by dancing and singing! hehehe..

But lately, filipino films are OK. Out of the three movies that i have seen (Don’t ask the titles, i can’t either believe that i went to the movie, running, just to watch those films) 2 of them were OK. no great. Yup, they were great. We laughed our heart out on the 2 romantic-comedy (there you go, but I’m still not telling you their titles)  that we watched. So i’m giving it again a try on filipino movies, who knows this could be the start of great filipino films era.
