Call me geek but I’m starting to be a big fan of this:

When you can measure what you are speaking about, and can express it numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of meager and unsatisfactory in kind. It may be the beginning of knowledge, but you have scarcely in your thoughts advanced to the stage of science.

Lord Kelvin, a phycisist

Last night, I grabbed myself a copy of Bamboo’s latest album, “We Stand Alone Together”. As expected, it’s more than worth it. Although there was a slight hesitance when I learned that the entire album was purely revival, listening to the it now clearly defines how Bamboo play their music.

My instant favorite was “Umagang kay Ganda” (Janno Gibbs and Vernie Varga has a popular version. Also, I found out that Pops Fernandez has one) and Probisyana. The groove is perfect! Surely these songs will be included in everyone’s morning song playlist. The much-has-been-said-ishSo Far Away” is a deep, melodramatic rendetion of Carole King’s original song. Pearl Jam’s “Alive” was a surprized but nonetheless a credible piece of the 8-track album. “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover”, which has the mood of “Dinner at 6″ (Light, Peace Love) and “Ballroom Dancing” (Rivermaya’s Atomic Bomb), and “Feelin’ Alright” were both jazzy and lively. And of course, the anthemic “Tatsulok”, a Buklod (one of their songs, Kanlungan, was featured in a McDonald’s commercial) original. This was a hit in the late 70’s during the Marshall Law period. The 2-CD album also includes 15 tracks of minus one songs from previous albums (As The Music Plays and Light, Peace, Love).

Overall, the album was superb and that’s not lip service. If you’re looking for Pinoy music at it’s finest, get this one. You won’t be disappointed.

Rating: 10 stars!

Yep, I’m dead busy. Again. So as much as I want to blog I can’t. Instead I’m gonna give you the best vid of all time (for me, that is)

Drown. That’s the keyword.

I was invited by La Consolacion College, Manila to be one of the speakers in their Explore I.T. event this coming Friday, February 9, 2007. My topic will be XML Programming (I know I should be blogging this in my tech blog, it’s just I haven’t blogged there for a while and it would be awkward to write about this there now). I had the same topic in AMA East Rizal (Which I suspect they were the one who referred me to these guys) last year so I feel comfortable now.

Well, not really since I realized that there “will be around 800-1000 delegates and guests most of which are students with computer major, faculty and/or advisers and computer enthusiasts.” I already have a PowerPoint presentation but I think it’s not working. I’m not feeling it. I want my talk to be fluid and easy. I trying to skip the tech jargons as much as I could. It’s just a 30-minute talk so the last thing I should do is confused my audience.

Well?

Lately I’ve been reading books and doing some research online to reinforce my faith with God. I’m not saying that faith is not enough — faith is believing beyond reasons – but I just want to prove that there is more to my belief than faith. I’d like to prove that I did not belived in God just because it’s what everyone around me believes in. I want to make sure that I believe in Him because it’s the truth and it is right.

In some ways, I envy atheist being so assertive when it comes to their belief. They always have science to back-up their beliefs. They base their beliefs on logic and observations. And through this, we — believers — are always outsmarted by them — non-believers when it comes to arguement. But this not about winning an argument, this is about my faith being in question in an arguement. It just don’t feel right being religious about it yet you can’t even reason out why you believe in it.

And if these people can do it, why can’t we?

Modern Science made a few startling (startling enough that most atheist are beginning to worry) discoveries lately. It is now being viewed that scientific theories and principles can be coherent with the Bible (Do I hear a cheer?). Listed below are some of the facts that I found out (Sources: godandscience.org, 20 compelling evidences that God exist, and God:the evidence)

  • For example, the Big Bang theory, the most accepted theory when it comes to beginning of the universe, supports the idea of Bible-based creation. How? Simple. If the universe has a beginning then there should be a Beginner. A phenomenon of this magnitude (imagine witnessing this huge, powerful explosion) can only be orchestrated by something, or someone, so powerful.
  • Also, it seems that the Earth’s location did not happened by accident. Evidences show that we are “perfectly” where we are. If some of these values are altered, let’s say we are more closer to the Sun or the Solar System is somewhere in the center of Milky Way, then life would not be possible.
  • Just right laws of Physics. The laws of physics must have values very close to those observed or the universe does not work “well enough” to support life. I must admit that this one of the most exciting part of my discoveries.

I could list more but I’d like tp leave some diggings for you guys. It’s a very exciting journey and discoveries. It will really reinforce your faith into a new level.

Edit:
Here’s another interesting read: Anthropic principle.

You just got home and you’re dead tired. Your house is in chaos because you’ve been running errands like hell for weeks now. The plates in the sink are piling up. Your bedroom needs a heavier word than “chaos”. The remote control is under your couch. Your son’s picture frame is collecting dust. You have no choice but to wear the shorts you had for a week now since most of your clothes are in the laundry bin. The only thing left in order is your comics collection.

You paused. A twisted smile visited your face, “I’m going to sleep”. You turn off the lights, leave everything in chaos and had a sound sleep.

Ang sarap.
